Some uses of Imity II

Thursday, June 15th, 2006

Check out this amazingly detailed account of a cross-continent train trip. This traveller is another example of a real person emulating features of Imity in analog. One of the motivations in making Imity was that we (that’s me and the other founders) all found this kind of recall really interesting and useful. And we all really wanted to experience and use it.

Some uses of Imity

nametag.gifRemember Scott the nametag guy? He has been wearing his name on his sleeve since November 2 2000 as an experiment in approachability. If he didn’t exist we would have to invent him here at Imity.

I was thinking about Scott while at Where 2.0. At a conference there’s a heightened expectation of approachability so everybody wears a nametag - ready to connect. Connecting is a beautiful thing. One of the things you can do with Imity is what Scott does. Make yourself available to new connections - only a little less loudly and with better machine-assisted memory…

What’s the point of not being loud you might ask. Isn’t that exaclty the idea? Well - no. The idea with Imity is not to turn the game of the approach into the main object of our lives. We just want to augment the connections we make as we go about our daily lives. We believe you get still get drastically improved connectivty like that, without actually sacrificing any of your already overworked attention.

clauswhere.jpgYesterday I gave a presentation at Where 2.0 in San Jose and got a lot of nice feedback from a lot of nice people. Thanks! And we’re getting nice blog feedback as well (here’s Monkey Bites at Wired News, here’s We Make Money Not Art).

I’ll have the slides with notes up real soon, but meanwhile the Reboot slides cover some of the same ground

Imity presenting at Reboot

rebootlogo.gifAll of us - that’s Nikolaj, Claus, Morten and Ricki - will be at the Reboot conference in Copenhagen the next couple of days - and we thought Reboot would be a good time to also debut our company weblog where we’ll be sharing our thoughts on mobile software, social software, location aware software and our spin on how these ideas should intersect.

If you’re at Reboot do say hi and come and see our presentation which is scheduled for the Demo track in Room A on friday.
The Reboot conference location network isn’t fully operational yet - but when it is, do go have a look at our Reboot special: A social “who’s going to which talk” Bluetooth/ICal/Wiki Reboot/Imity mash up.
